Contract SAP Support Technician

Job Description

At Cenovus Energy, we're looking for a knowledgeable and customer-focused Contract SAP Support Technician to join our Maintenance Work Management & Performance team. Reporting to the CMMS Lead, this role is critical in supporting maintenance work management processes and systems across our SAGD operations.

In this role, you'll provide SAP end-user support, enhance work management processes, deliver training and coaching, develop reporting and performance insights, and collaborate with site and corporate teams to drive operational excellence. • This position will initially be located at Cenovus facilities in Foster Creek
• This is a 12-month contract position working a 7 days on / 7 days off rotation, FIFO arrangement.
• Transportation support may be provided from designated locations, including air and/or bus transportation, depending on place of residence and rotation requirements.
• Foster Creek is serviced by flight hubs in Calgary and Edmonton, as well as bus transportation from La Corey, Alberta.

What You'll Do

SAP Work Management Support

• Provide end-user support for work management processes in SAP, with a focus on work identification, execution, and closeout activities through Notifications and Work Orders.
• Assist users in troubleshooting process and system issues while ensuring adherence to established standards and procedures.
• Support ongoing enhancements to SAP functionality and work management processes to reduce transactional effort and improve efficiency.
• Stay informed on new system capabilities and technical developments and assist with implementation activities.

Training, Coaching & Process Excellence

• Deliver SAP training sessions to site personnel and stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain work instructions, procedures, and training materials.
• Provide coaching on work management best practices and SAP process requirements.
• Conduct audits and assessments to ensure compliance with maintenance standards, procedures, and business processes.
• Support alignment and consistency of CMMS procedures and practices across Cenovus operating sites.

Reporting, Analytics & Performance Monitoring

• Manage SAP reporting and respond to information requests from business stakeholders.
• Assist with the development and maintenance of SAP and Power BI reports, dashboards, and KPIs.
• Analyze operational and maintenance data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Leverage corporate dashboards and reporting tools to support performance management and business decision-making.
• Support investigations and data reviews related to critical maintenance and operational metrics.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, CMMS, and Calgary-based support teams.
• Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across multiple sites.
• Prioritize competing requests and system requirements while supporting organizational objectives.
• Provide backup support to other Cenovus operating sites as required.
• Make recommendations and provide guidance on technical and process-related issues.

SAP & Maintenance Systems Expertise

• Strong understanding of SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) processes and functionality.
• Experience supporting maintenance work management systems and end users.

Qualifications

Required

• Working knowledge of maintenance standards, procedures, and work management processes.
• Strong understanding of SAP Plant Maintenance (PM), Microsoft Office, and Power BI.
• Experience with data queries, report development, and performance reporting.
• Excellent analytical, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Experience working with integrated computer systems and technology-based solutions.

Preferred

• Technical Diploma in a related discipline.
• Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) certification.
• Experience supporting CMMS programs in SAGD or oil sands operations.
• Experience developing Power BI dashboards and KPI reporting frameworks.
• Experience delivering formal training and coaching programs.
• Knowledge of maintenance reliability, planning, scheduling, and execution processes.
